Roy Rector, Tyler Rector Earn Rigorous CFCE Re-Certification
One of the most important credentials for digital forensics professionals is the Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) certification. R3 Digital Forensics is proud to have two professionals — Roy Rector and Tyler Rector — certified by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists.
Roy and Tyler were both recently re-certified to maintain their CFCE status. CFCE certification requires candidates to complete an intensive series of problem-solving challenges followed by a rigorous practical exercise and written final exam. The CFCE certification process requires proven proficiency in seven core competencies that include:
Pre-Examination Procedures and Legal Issues
Computer Fundamentals
Partitioning Schemes
Windows File Systems
Data Recovery
Windows Artifacts
Presentation of Findings
The initial certification process is a six-month process consisting of a two-week course, five digital forensics practical problems, and a 200-question test. The certification process has been evaluated as graduate degree level work. Every three years, CFCE certified examiners must have maintained at least 40 hours of relevant digital forensics training and pass a digital forensics practical exercise and test in order to re-certify.
“CFCE certification is an impressive accomplishment that requires a tremendous commitment of time and effort to maintain expertise in the ever-changing field of digital forensics, said Reid Wittliff, founder and President of R3 Digital Forensics. “We are proud of Roy and Tyler for their success in staying at the forefront of the field.”
